Why I Accepted To Work With Rochas, Says Imo Commissioner Designate, Ajumbe

AJUMBE

Front-line Politician in Imo State and Commissioner Designate, Orikeze Vitalis Ajumbe says Governor Rochas Okorocha determination to change Imo State for good motivated his resolve to serve in his administration.

The former opposition leader said Okorocha’s interest for the State and concern for the people were some among numerous factors that made him join the rescue mission.

“Rochas has changed a lot in Imo State. You cannot stay for five minutes with him and he will not make an impact in you.

Ajumbe who spoke for Forum of Imo Newspaper Editors, an association of editors of Owerri based newspapers and online news outfits, said the Governor deserves accolades for transforming the State while in office.

“He has zero tolerance for corruption. He detests corruption. He only wants results. No matter how you are blackmailed before the governor as long as he believes in your capability, he will work with you.

Ajumbe said Okorocha has achieved so much and even surpassed the achievements of previous administrations in the State despite the low allocation from the federation account.

On his nomination as a Commissioner in Imo State, Ajumbe said “I have never asked for it. I was surprised when the Governor announced my name as one of the commissioner nominees.

Ajumbe, who heads the interim management committee of the state- owned radio and t.v, said a lot has been achieved in the once mori-bound media outfit. He said the monthly subvention of the corporation has been successfully reduced from N30M, N28M, N18, and now N15m, thus saving so much resources for the State government.

He said this was made possible through the ingenuity of the three man interim management committee

“We have managed resources prudently. New equipments are coming. We have also embarked on beautifying the entire premises. We have brought in new advert rates and we have arrangements to go digital.

"We intend to hook it up to DSTV. By the time we go digital, IBC will now be self sustaining.

In his short remarks, a member of the management committee of the media outfit, Ralph Afoaku said IBC has transformed since the committee on board, feat the workers can attest to.

“We are determined to surpass all odds” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Forum, Eze Adiuku of Nigerian Spectator Newspaper, said the editors are in the Corporation to interact with the Chairman of the Management Committee to share ideas on its success and challenges.
