Imo Federal Board Appointees List "Adjusted", As Oyegun Submits 1,850 Names To Presidency (UPDATE)

OYEGUN
Indications were rife at the weekend that not all the 50 names contained in the list of  nominees recommended for federal board appointments sent to the national secretariat of the APC by the Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State actually made the final cut submitted to President Buhari by the APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun.

Oyegun at the weekend reportedly submitted the names of 1, 850 APC members drawn from the 36 State chapters of the party to the presidency for consideration as Board Chairmen and members of Federal Government Parastatals and Agencies
The list from Imo State has been a subject of controversy as some powerful members of the APC in Imo State faulted the recommendation of mainly friends, loyalists of the State Governor alone.  They also fumed at the recommendation of some PDP decampees in the State who joined the APC on the eve of  March 2015 elections.

This newspaper had reported on Saturday that some APC stakeholders in Imo State had taken their grievances to the APC national chairman and to the presidency describing the list from the APC leader in Imo Stte as lopsided and unacceptable. They claimed their complains received “fair hearing” from the party leaders in Abuja.

A source later told INNONEWS on Sunday that the list from most States including that of Imo was “doctored and adjusted to accommodate certain interests”

“We did the adjustment in consultation with party leaders in the States, because there was deluge of protests from the States, including Imo. Some adjustments were done on the list from many States.

“We insisted on certain criterias for one to get federal board appointments which are,(a) Core APC members who were members of the legacy parties;

(b)Those who joined after the registration of the party by INEC,

(c)Those who decamped from other political parties before the election campaigns and went through the rigours of the polls.

“There were also instructions that decampees from other parties who joined after the APC had won the election in April 2015 be put on hold. They must be in the APC for at least 2 years before appointments come their way.

One of the aggrieved APC member who spoke to this newspaper in Owerri expressed optimism that not all the 50 names that came from “one source” in Imo State will make the final cut.

“ There were consultations and a lot really changed” he claimed.
