Senator Chris Anyanwu has explained what actually transpired in a
clash between her convoy and that of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on
Boxing Day.
Anyanwu’s convoy was reported to have run into that of the Imo State
Governor at Azaraegbelu, 30 kilometres away from Owerri, Imo State capital.
The senator denied media reports that her convoy impeded that of the
Governor, stating that as they approached the busy road and saw the convoy of that
Governor Okorocha coming, she instructed her driver to make way for the convoy
of that of the Chief Executive of the State.
She also denied reports that she hit her shoe on the head of one of the
Governor’s aides during the melee, adding that she had to go extra mile to calm
the situation which would have degenerated to a show of shame if she had
not promptly intervened.
She however lamented that it was
her driver that was mercilessly beaten up by Okorocha’s security aides
Senator Anyanwu, who represents Imo East Senatorial District, told
newsmen at her Owerri residence, that she has no squabbles with the Governor,
though she lamented that she has been unfairly treated in recent times by Governor
Okorocha
It will be recalled that Senator Anyanwu played a crucial role in the
emergence of Owelle Rochas Okorocha as Imo State Governor as both worked hand
in gloves to defeat then Governor Ikedi Ohakim of the PDP
