APGA Wooed To Join Merger of Opposition Parties

Indications are rife that a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) may join the proposed merger of opposition political parties in the country.

This blog was told that the faction of the party controlled by Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been approached to join the merger moves.   A meeting led by the ANPP reconstituted merger committee headed by former Yobe State Governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim was said to have opened talks with the Imo State Governor on the issue.

The outcome of the meeting is still shrouded in secrecy.

A national newspaper in Nigeria reported that plans are underway to also poach a faction of the Labour party, while the Action Congress of Nigera (ACN) has also set up a similar committee to open talks on the merger plans.

It was gathered that the opposition parties have up to March 2012 to conclude the merger in order to meet up with INEC deadline
