Community Election Fails To Hold In Imo

The controversial Community Government Coucil Election (CGC ) scheduled for December 15th, 2012  did not hold as expected in Imo State.
The CGC is Governor Rochas Okorocha’s  brand of  fourth tier of Government that has elicited divergent views from a broad spectrum of Imolites.
While some say it is unconstitutional, ambigious and an invitation to chaos in the hinterlands because of its complexities, officials of the Administration insist it is a system of Government to bring the grassroots closer to governance.
Reasons for the failure of the polls to hold were unknown, but a source said the Secretary to the Imo State Government, Prof Anthony Anwuka was reported to have announced the postponement of the polls indefinitely.
There were also reports that the polls were halted following a Court injunction. Details were sketchy as at press time, but government source told this blog that the election will hold at the appropriate time
