Senator Chris Anyanwu |
The last
might not have been heard of the convoy clash of Imo State Governor, Owelle
Rochas Okorocha and Senator representing Imo East Senatorial District, Senator
Chris Anyanwu.
Gov Okorocha in his New Year Message said he has forgiven the
Senator.
“Finally, may I in the spirit of the
New Year celebration express my forgiveness to Senator Chris Anyanwu who a few
days ago committed serious security breach that could have caused my life. I
strongly believe that she must have realized her mistakes by now.” Gov
Okorocha stated
In a swift response, Anyanwu’s Political Adviser, Mr.
Obinna Ibe, the Senator maintains that she was the victim of the incident and
not the offender.
In a one-page press statement signed
by Ibe, the Political Adviser said that the best New Year gift Okorocha can
give to Imo people is to begin to set good examples ‘by coming clean on this
small matter, telling the truth, showing contrition and moving into the New
Year with a clear conscience.’
According to Ibe, the Governor by his New Year message of conditional forgiveness, has betrayed the fact that he personally instructed the brutalization of an innocent Imo citizen.
Continuing he said, “His action has demeaned the exalted office of an executive governor. Moreso, his genuine lack of remorse shows that lying has gained a pride of place in governance.”
The statement urged Imo people to resist any arbitrary acts of abuse and impunity.
