Gov.Okorocha(l) and Senator Chris Anyanwu |
More
knocks have come the way of Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over his
unilateral decision to drag the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) into the
merger of four opposition political parties namely the ANPP, ACN, CPC which
gave birth to All Progressive Congress, APC.
The
latest knock is coming from the Senator representing Imo East Senatorial
district, Senator Chris Anyanwu.
Anyanwu
was elected to the senate on the platform of APGA in the 2011 elections.
According
to Anyanwu’s aide, Evarest Ezihe, in his response to inquiries made by this
blog, he clarified that the distinguished senator was not consulted on the
issue and therefore not part of the arrangement.
Senator
Anyanwu and Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has been involved in political
altercations which culminated in the clash of their convoys of the duo on
December 26, 2012 along Owerri-Umuahia road.
Both the Governor and the Senator since then have engaged in political
cat and mouse game that has continued widen their political differences.
Governor
Okorocha who surprisingly showed up at a meeting of 11 opposition governors
held in Lagos, Tuesday, has continued to receive knocks from a faction of APGA
loyal to Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State over his latest political move.
On
Wednesday, the Anambra State chapter of the APGA disassociated itself from the
merger, saying Governor Okorocha of Imo State acted alone. The party restated
that APGA is working in tandem with the Goodluck Jonathan Administration having
garnered juicy positions including an ambassadorial slot from the PDP led
Federal Government.
Meanwhile,
a national private television based in Lagos, reported that Governor Okorocha
said that the APC is not at war with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
claiming that most of the leaders of the APC were at one time PDP leaders.
