CHIKWE |
The camp of Senator Hope Uzodinma, has lashed at PDP National Woman leader, Dr(Mrs) Kema Chikwe, describing her as “a gender chauvinist, who is bound to have turbulent moments with most men she comes across”
In a statement signed by Mbadiwe Emelumba, the Director of Publicity, Hope Uzodinma Campaign Organization, described Chikwe as a tribal champion who is unfit to hold the position of Woman leader of a national political party such as the PDP.
Uzodinma and Chikwe have been embroiled in serious political altercations in recent times Chikwe had accused Uzodinma of sponsoring malicious newspaper reports against his person.
He accused Chikwe for embarking on an avoidable war against her imaginary enemies.
"Hers is a classical case of being surrounded by an incoherent group who in the name of defending her actually end up exposing her for who she is. “ the statement added
Full Text of the Statement reads:
“It is sad to note that from the onset the objective of the publication by a certain “Coalition of Imo Democrats”on page 49 of the SunNewspapers of Wednesday May 21, 2014, was to maliciously accuse Senator Hope Uzodimma of sponsoring a publication he knew nothing about and to proceed there from to unleash a sordid smear campaign against his distinguished person. This is incredibly heartless and unreasonable. Because the authors of the said publication were sufficiently infantile to thread this ignoble path, the Hope Uzodimma Campaign Organisation is left with no option than to force them back to the path of dispassion and reason. Clearly this ‘Coalition of Imo Democrats’ in their publication in reference attempted to react to an early publication by “Concerned Imo PDP Youths’ against Dr. Kema Chikwe which they claimed was sponsored by Senator Uzodimma, Our legal team is currently looking into the implications of this false accusation and will accordingly advice the Senator when they are done. Unfortunately in their rabid desire to disparage the person of Senator Hope Uzodimma, they forgot to address the real issues raised against their principal by the Concerned Youths, Or maybe they actually had no answers to the grave allegations raised in the said publication by the youths, hence their inability to defend her and the shameless recourse to mudslinging against an innocent man.
We should state most categorically that Senator Uzodimma knew absolutely nothing about the publication he is accused of sponsoring. And we should equally add that the distinguished Senator has abundant audacity to own up his position on any subject or person. If Sen. Uzodimma has any reason to speak up against Dr. Kema Chikwe he will do so without prevarication. He is not a Coward to hide under any group or person to air his views on any issue. We are certain that even Kema Chikwe knows this much. Be this as it may, an interesting twist to the churlish representation by this ‘Coalition of Imo Democrats’ in defence of Dr. Chikwe is that while they pointedly accused Senator Hope Uzodimma of sponsoring the publication of Concerned Imo Youths, they also admitted that by Dr. Chikwe’s confrontational attitude she has many enemies who could have actually sponsored the publication. So why pick on the Senator? Here is prove of our position; third to the last paragraph of the coalition’s publication reads interalia; “Her zero tolerance for corruption and male androcracy (SIC) account for the morbid dislike of her person by those who wish to exploit and manipulate the interest of Owerri people”
Aside from the obvious admission that she has many enemies, many other facts also emerged from this incredibly revealing statement by the “Coalition of lmo Democrats”.
Fact 1; Dr. Kema Chikwe is a gender chauvinist, who is bound to have turbulent moments with most men she comes across. By the evidence of this revelation, she is bound to be so sensitive to even an imaginary threat of male domination around her. Naturally, she will have plenty of problems with different men.
Fact 2: She is a myopic tribal bigot whose preoccupation is the defence of Owerri clannish interest; her ancestral homeland.
Fact 3: A woman who has been celebrated for her tribal feats is truly not fit to be the National Woman Leader of a National Political Party. Surely this is a clear Case of a square peg in a round hole. Perhaps that is why the Concerned Imo PDP Youths are kicking.
Fact 4: Given Dr. Chikwe’s antecedents, as now revealed, as tribal warlord, it follows logically that she will put the interest of Owerri over and above any other interest, including that of Imo state PDP, if not the National PDP. It is therefore not out of place for any person or group to be anxious over her suitability for the all-important and sensitive position of National Woman Leader of the PDP.
Fact 5: Because, as now revealed, the National Woman Leader of the PDP is a tribal Champion, it is only but natural that she would want to support an Owerri gubernatorial aspirant and would indeed go out of her way to cook up tantalizing fallacies to mislead the National leadership of PDP that Imo Governorship is zoned to Owerri.
This brings us to the fitful logic of the authors of the coalition publication in respect of a so called “Imo chanter of Equity” through which Imo governorship position is zoned to the three zones in the state. This pontification on the “Imo Chanter of Equity” has become so farcical that its apostles should know that all reasonable people are laughing at them .And this is so because they have refused to address a sundry questions put to them; to wit. Was it Imo stake holders that fashioned this Imo chanter of equity and if so who were these stakeholders and whose mandate did they exercise? Is the charter for PDP alone or for all other political parties in the country? Most importantly, where is this illusive charter? Why can’t it be made available to Imo people.
Until these questions are addressed satisfactorily, the Imo zoning apostles should grow up and shut up.
And talking of willful impudence, the Coalition of Democrats tells us in paragraph 2, line 17 that Imo Guber 2015 “has already been zoned to Owerri”. How else can one describe such a claim other than to understand that nothing better can come from clannish fanatics who are ready to do anything, including telling barefaced lies, just to promote a clannish interest. Let’s take yet another look at a line from the puerile and hallucinatory presentation by the coalition group. “In the guber primaries of PDP in 2003, Kema came 5th with over 900 delegate votes. However the party in it (SIC) wisdom chose the candidate a candidate (SIC) from Okigwe zone to fly the party flag then based on the zoning arrangement.
The governorship of Imo state was zoned to Okigwe midstream” emphasis mine. What a logical absurdity! Incredible indeed.
What was Kema Chikwe doing in that primary, which by the way was 2007, not 2003, when there was already Imo Charter of Equity?. Was she not aware of the zoning arrangement before going to contest the primaries? If she had won, would she not have flown the flag of the party for the guber elections proper?
Questions and Questions. But more revealing and ludicrous is the last line in the quote as emphasized by me above, to wit that “the governorship of Imo state was zoned to Okigwe Midstream”. Can anybody really believe this arrant foolery. Well at least the coalition group has told us in clear terms that the zoning of governorship can be done “midstream” probably “midstream” here means after primaries, as defined by Kema Chikwe’s school of political neophytes. And if this be so, what is the whole frenzy about the possibility of a Hope Uzodimma guber ambition?
Well for the avoidance of doubt, Senator Hope Uzodimma has not told anybody that he is running for governor in 2015. If however he decides to run for governor I can assure you that a thousand Kema Chikwe’s or Coalition groups cannot stop him.
However, the truth that is self-evident is that Senator Hope Uzodimma has a very large political followership in Imo state. Why some like the Chikwes are understandably rattled by his soaring popularity, and are consequently resorting to baseless name-calling and blackmail, others who are wise, including highly respected, responsible and rational Owerri men, women and groups, are quietly forming strategic alliances with the Distinguished Senator. Truth is take it on leave it, come 2015, Senator Uzodimma and his large followership will not be sidelined in determining the next governor of Imo state.
It should interest the coalition group to learn that Senator Hope Uzodimma enjoys a very warm, cordial and fruitful relationship with the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu. The blackmail of making reference to the former chairman as his friend and by implication that the new Chairman should be weary of him is trite. It failed to achieve its objectives. And now we know those who invented it in the first place.
We advise them to try another lie. This one has failed irredeemably. By making reference to the Distinguished Senator as half educated and turning around to flaunt your principal as a Ph.D. holder, we wonder what point the coalition group really wants to make. However they should know that our Senator is very well educated and the evidence is everywhere, even from his robust contributions at the Senate Plenary.
Besides, Degree’s or Ph.D’s, if properly acquired, don’t make leaders. Even more important, it is not how long you stay in office that matters but your achievements while there. Yes Dr. Kema Chikwe was a Minister of Aviation for four (4) years. What did she do with that position? We recall that under her watch Imo airport remained comatose just as the designated Enugu International airport remained a proposed site.
But under the watch of the Senator as chairman Senate Committee on Aviation for less than three (3) years, Imo airport has been dramatically transformed and soon it will become functional as an International Cargo airport. Also Akanu Ibiam International airport has taken off. Is the difference between the two not as clear as orange is different from an apple? When the coalition group accused the Distinguished Senator of planning to strike any form of political deal with Governor Rochas Okorocha, it only reminds discerning minds that it is this same Senator that has been most forthcoming in leading a virile opposition against Okorocha in Imo state. Uzodimma has repeatedly and publicly criticized Okorocha’s administration as deceitful and undemocratic. We can’t remember once when Dr. Chikwe as a PDP National Officer, has criticized the Okorocha government. We think that it is those in positions of authority who keep quite when their party is in opposition that should have question to answer and not the other way round. With respect to who played what role and who did not in respect of the return of former Governor Achike Udenwa to PDP, we will like to put it on record that those who should know who played what role know and they alone can judge the role played by the Senator.
And by the way, Senator Uzodimma was the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Unity rally where Chief Udenwa was formally received back to the party. If he showed excitement that the rally he organized was a huge success, why envy him, even the scripture allows a labourer to enjoy his wages.
We sincerely hope that our haunch is wrong here because the coalition group appear to have let the cat out of the bag which is that Dr. Kema Chikwe is planning to run for the Imo Guber race come 2015. They did when they made a reference to governorship primaries Chikwe ran for in 2013 in paragraph 5 of their publication. We don’t know of any PDP governorship primaries in 2013. Our best guess therefore is that they are referring to their plans for 2015.
If that be the case, all we can add is please run, Dr. Kema Chikwe run, for Imo guber so that your much flaunted popularity, love, and adoration by your people will be put to test once and for all. Maybe after her hopeful victory in Imo guber 2015, she will not continue to live under the illusion that she defeated Sen, Christie Anyanwu in the last Senatorial election, even when that matter has been settled by INEC and the relevant laws of this land. Or maybe, who knows, if she wins she will break the jinx of not having ever won an election in life, then she may savour the grandiose of victory for once and stop seeing powerful men as her problem, particularly those holding elective office.
When you put all the contradictions that make the pilloried representation of the Coalition of Imo Democrats almost incomprehensible, you will appreciate why our dear Dr. Kema Chikwe will continue to fight an avoidable war against her imaginary enemies for a very long time to come. Hers is a classical case of being surrounded by an incoherent group who in the name of defending her actually end up exposing her for who she is. All said, we now leave the national chairman of the PDP to judge for himself whether the said open letter to him by Concerned Imo PDP Youths was sponsored by a distinguished senator who has no track record of hiding behind others to make his statements or whether the allegation is a baseless fabrication by a woman who has a paranoid for the menfolk and suffers from an incurable fixation that most powerful men are after her
