Owerri Leaders In Talks With Orlu Zone On 2015 Guber Election

Iwuanyanwu And Udenwa
As the 2015 elections draw close, leaders of Owerri Zone (Imo West Senatorial District) are in talks with their counterparts in Orlu Zone (Imo West) over the 2015 Imo Guber elections.

The meeting is said to take place at the country home of former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa.     Udenwa hails from Orlu Zone
Among those on the trip to Orlu include governorship aspirants, Senatorial and House of Representatives members, elders and leaders of Owerri Zone who are on a mission to ask their counterpart to shelve their plans to field a candidate for the 2015 governorship elections on the PDP platform

Owerri Zone has strongly agitated for the governorship seat of Imo State on the basis that it has not held forte the affairs of the State since the advent of democracy in the country in 1999.

Orlu has produced the State Governor twice ( Achike Udenwa 1999-2007, Rochas Okorocha 2011-) while Okigwe Zone held forte under Ikedi Ohakim from 2007- 2011).

The ambition of Senator Hope Uzodinma, senator representing Orlu Zone in the Senate to contest the 2015 governorship election in the State has ranked the nerves of leaders of Owerri Zone who say it will be unfair for the Orlu born senator to join the governorship race after his kinsman, Rochas  Okorocha

Okorocha completes his tenure in 2015 and is likely to seek for a second term.

Owerri Zone has over 20 governorship aspirants and this has raised concern if the Zone is serious to produce a governorship candidate for the PDP for the 2015 polls.
