"Senator Hope Uzodinma Not In Pact With Okorocha For 2019"

Sen. Uzodinma
Contrary to insinuations that the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, Senator Hope Uzodinma has a secret pact with Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha over 2019 elections, a top aide of the senator has denied the rumour.

The aide who does not want his name mentioned said those propagating the information are spreading falsehood against the distinguished senator.

Speaking to INNONEWS.COM reporter on phone, he said it is not true that the senator is working with the APC governor of Imo State over a swap deal for the next elections in 2019.

“There is no such thing. Those who are spreading this information are simply spreading falsehood against the senator for no just reason.

Both the senator and the governor come from Orlu Zone (Imo West Senatorial zone).

"They are brothers and hold important positions. Naturally, irrespective of political party affiliation, there is a meeting point for the two leaders of the zone which borders on the development of Imo West senatorial zone

“It has nothing to do with 2019.  Has the senator told anyone that he is running for any other position? We are in 2016 and people are talking of 2019.

At the appropriate time, the people will come to know that it is some people in the PDP who are scared of the towering political profile of the senator that are spreading this falsehood against him”

Senator Hope Uzodinma and a former Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha are reported to be jostling for control of the PDP structure in Imo State in preparation for the 2019 polls.

Their hard-line positions has split the party in two factions driven by a caretaker committee headed by Hon Vitalis Okafor and a State executive led by Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie.

The caretaker committee was recognized by the party leadership in Abuja and recently by a High Court in Orlu. The State executive was sacked by the then Uche Secondus led National Working Committee. They are said to be loyal to the senator representing Imo West in the senate.

Peace has not returned in the party as both factions are still laying claim to its leadership.

Ihedioha and Uzodinma are said to have governorship Governorship ambitions in 2019.

Those spreading the rumour against Uzodinma  allege that the Okorocha  has entered into a  "swap deal" with Uzodinma which entails the senator backing the governor for Imo North Senatorial slot, while the latter backs the senator for the Imo governorship seat,

So far, efforts to reconcile the two factions have been a herculean task despite the intervention of a peace and reconciliation committee headed by Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.

Party congress to elect party officers comes up in April 2016.
