A front-line Chairmanship Aspirant for Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon Ngozi Ogbu has said the All Progressive Congress, APC has failed the nation and Imo State, describing the ruling party as messengers of Change that have proved to be incapable of fulfilling its numerous campaign promises and incapable of managing the nation.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, he said in Imo State, the people are patiently waiting for the PDP to take over the reins of governance in 2019.

Ogbu, a former Local Government Chairman of Okigwe LGA in Imo North senatorial district said when elected Chairman of the PDP in Imo State he will reposition the party to be able to win the 2019 elections in the State.

He said what the PDP needs to secure victory in the State in 2019 is to reconnect the party to the grassroots, stressing that he is vast experience in managing and handling the grassroots.

Ogbu said “I have the experience in managing the grassroots. I have been a local government chairman for four years at a time the outcome of elections in the country reflected the wishes of the people.

“I have in-depth experience of youth management having served as a state youth leader of Imo PDP.

The former lawmaker said what the PDP needs to get its acts together in  Imo State is for the party leaders and members to be disciplined, vowing to restore discipline to the party in the State.

On allegations that he is sponsored for the plum job by one of the leaders of the party to aid the  guber ambition of such leader, he said nobody is behind his chairmanship aspiration.

“Nobody is sponsoring me. I m sponsoring myself. Sponsorship for elective position is not a guarantee for victory.  PDP is a democratic political party and we are in opposition. The party is conscious of this fact and therefore imposition will no longer be possible anymore in Imo PDP.

Reacting to a question that the PDP in Imo State is torn apart by two factions, he said there are no factions in the party. He said there is a Caretaker Committee in place instituted by the national leadership of the party, describing those causing confusion in the party as disgruntled elements.

He called on party members in Imo State to faithfully and courageously come out during the party’s congresses to elect credible leaders from the ward to the state levels during congress.
