Cyber Thieves Unleash More Attack On INNONEWS.COM

Cyber Thieves and criminals have not relented in their desperation to hack down the first Online Newspaper in Imo State and South East, Nigeria, INNONEWS.COM

 Last week, these unscrupulous elements hacked into the face-book account of our publisher, Mr. Innocent Onyeukwu using the face-book messenger to send fraudulent messages and soliciting requests to friends of our publisher on his facebook account.

Some of the messages sent by the hacker include request for recharge cards and monetary demands. The face book has been partially retrieved by our team of our engineers as the hacker went extra measure to make it irretrievable.

For now, our readers are advised to disregard any requests for monetary demands from the facebook messenger of our Publisher’s face book (Innocent Onyeukwu) until the face-book account is finally retrieved.

As part of the partial retrieval process, only stories from INNONEWS.COM routed from one of our platforms appear on the time line of our publisher’s facebook ID. Direct post should be ignored for now.  Our readers shall be notified when the facebook account is totally retrieved as we shall inform them.

It is however regrettable that while many other digital businesses treat identity theft with urgency and seriousness, facebook is notorious of being slow in checking the crime. Facebook‘s clumsy reporting process and policy make fighting hackers and clones almost impossible.

We have so far traced where this hacker is coming and our online findings using several approved software prove that the hacker(s) is working for a top politician in Imo State. This politician has not hidden his disapproval over some stories that appear on INNONEWS.COM which he considers offensive only to his sensibilities.

We have also observed that the hacker attempted to hack into our company email and virus the news site to make it a virus prone site that will not accessible to many of our readers in the South East, Nigeria and beyond. This was why INNONEWS.COM was redesigned with new features and security codes.

 However, we have the identity of the hacker and will soon make it public after our team of engineers provides conclusive evidence on his activities.

We shall not hesitate to take appropriate action against the hacker and his sponsor. We shall press charges against this hacker and his sponsor at the appropriate time.

We wish to reiterate that INNONEWS.COM will not be intimidated by anyone.  As the first online newspaper in Imo State and the south east, we remain unshaken and will always remain committed to the ethics that regulate and moderate online journalism.
