The Deputy Majority Leader of Imo State House Of Assembly, Hon Chinedu Offor has been removed.
Offor represents Onuimo State Constituency in the Assembly
His removal was announced by the Speaker, Hon Acho Ihim during plenary. He said the decision was taken after the All Progressive Congress, APC caucus meeting in the Imo State House of Assembly.
He did not state reasons for his suspension
According to the Speaker, Hon Kennedy Ibe, member representing Obowo constituency is the new deputy majority leader
.Also, according to him, the House has set up a six man committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo to investigate the activities of some lawmakers suspended recently.
The suspended members are Hon Marcel Odumze, Hon Arthur Egwim, and Hon (Mrs) Uche Ejiogu and Hon Emma Orie
Speaker Ihim frowned at the actions of the protesters who barricaded the House of Assembly complex last Thursday demanding the recall of the suspended members, stating that the House will not tolerate such actions in the future.
He however commended the Minority leader of the House, Hon Obinna Egu for the mature manner he has gone about his suspension.
The Imo State House of Assembly has engaged in series of suspension of some it members in recent times.
