PDP May Shop For "Dark Horse" For Imo Guber

If feelers from the Wadata plaza, headquarters of Nigeria’ ruling party in Abuja ,the PDP is anything to go by, a dark horse or political underdog among the litany of political heavyweights vying the PDP Imo Guber ticket may get the nod to fly  the party’s governorship flag in Imo State.

This blog was told that while the party is bent on holding free, fair and credible primaries in Imo State, the party’s national leadership might be disposed to field a candidate with less political baggage.

A source in the PDP said “While we are committed to free, fair primaries as espoused by the Adamu Muazu leadership in Imo State and other state chapter, the party is interested in a candidate with less political baggage. We will give everyone a level playing ground but there are strong considerations that  the party is interested in a sellable and winnable candidate  not just in Imo State but across the country”

The PDP in Imo resurrected after President Goodluck Jonathan visited the State last month where decampees from the All Progressive Congress, APC re joined the party.

At the moment, the party has over 20 governorship aspirants, a situation that makes the party a formidable force as the 2015 polls draws near.

Since then, the party leadership has strived to heal cracks in the party through steady consultations with the aspirants.
