Imo Assembly Dumps Okorocha's Supplementary Budget

. Over Exclusion Of Funds For Legislature

IHIM
The Imo State House of Assembly has rejected Governor Rochas Okorocha’s 2015 Supplementary Budget proposal.

The House in a unanimous decision out- rightly rejected the budget on the basis that it did not accommodate the bills of the Legislative arm of government.

The Budget was rejected after it was submitted by the House Committee Chairman on Appropriation headed by Hon Odunze, representing Orlu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.

The House wondered why other arms of government such as the Executive and the Judiciary will be accommodated by the Budget only for the legislature to be excluded.

Majority Leader of the House, Hon Lugard Osuji said the committee did not carry out an acceptable job.

The rejection of the Budget has put the House members on the spotlight as majority of the Imo citizenry have severally lamented that the present set of Assembly members are mere appendages of the Executive.
The House had last month passed a vote of confidence on the State Governor, a move which attracted umbrage from Imolites at a time the State government sacked 3,000 workers from the State workforce.
