ANPP Repositions For Merger

Contrary  to fears that the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) may miss out on the planned merger of leading opposition parties in the country,  reports indicate that the party is part of the merger, but have resorted to rebuilding the party structures nationwide to put it in good stead for challenges ahead of the 2015 general elections.

This is coming on the heels of the recent announcement by Congress for Progressive Change leader, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) who said the CPC and the ACN will go finalize merger plans by June while other parties including the ANPP will join later.

Although it was not expressly stated, a national daily reported recently, that some influential members of the party have seen the need to use the presumed wider spread of the party as  a means of strengthening its bargaining power at the merger talks.

The party Board of Trustees which met Tuesday in Abuja behind closed doors for three hours considered a report submitted by the committee on the re-building of party structures across the country.
