The
Presidency Wednesday night assured leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State that the party will be re energized to move
away from its present opposition status in Imo State in the next political
dispensation
This
is part of the fallout of an interactive meeting between President Goodluck
Jonathan and leaders of the PDP in Imo State held at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. The
meeting earlier scheduled for Tuesday night did not hold because of the absence
of Mr. President.
When
the meeting eventually took place Wednesday night, the President was said to
have listened attentively to litany of complaints tabled before him by the
party leaders from Imo State. Among
their grievances were the sack and non compliance of the Order of the Appeal
Court, Owerri which ruled for the reinstatement of the elected Council Chairmen
by Governor Rochas Okorocha, the establishment of Imo Security Network by the
Imo State Government and other issues affecting the party in the State.
A source revealed that the State party
Chairman, Eze Duruiheoma reeled out to the President the ordeal of the party in
the State since it lost the governorship seat to APGA. His views were also
corroborated by the pioneer Chairman of the party, Chief I.D Nwoga.
The
President was said to have reassured the party leaders that their complains
will be looked into and addressed. He was said to have urged them to remain steadfast
and committed to the ideals of the party in the State.

Among
those present at the meeting include the Deputy Speaker, Federal House of
Representatives, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, former Imo State Governor, Dr. Ikedi
Ohakim, Senators Hope Uzodinma and Matthew Nwagwu, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe, Chief
(Engr) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, some PDP representatives in the Federal House of
Representatives from Imo State, Imo PDP Chairman, Eze Duruiheoma, and President African Parliament, Hon Bethel Amadi
The
PDP lawmakers from the Imo State House of Assembly who boycotted the resumption
of the Imo State House of Assembly on Tuead were present. Because of their
number, they were said to nominate three members from each of the geo political
zones.
