IMO LAWMAKERS

BY UCHENNA UFOMADU

At last, the 13 commissioner nominees sent to the Imo State House of Assembly were cleared yesterday.

INNONEWS.COM was informed that the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha will swear in the approved commissioners on Thursday, January 14,2015 in Owerri.

Among those cleared to become commissioner include Vitalis Ajumbe, Gertrude Oduka, Ifeanyi Araraume (Jnr), Udo Agoha, Innocent Ekeh among others.

The screening of the commissioner nominees by the House of Assembly has been a turbulent one since last December their names were submitted to the House by the executive.

Some of the nominees accused the lawmakers of requesting for bribe ranging between N1m to N2m naira for their screening, an allegation dispelled by the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji.

Osuji had told this online newspaper that the House was bent on conducting a thorough check on the nominees before clearing or rejecting their nominations.
