Two Ex Senate Presidents, Others Move To Split APC.

.Merger Talks With Aggrieved PDP Top Shots Ongoing.

BY EZE EGEJURU

Indications are rife that two former senate presidents are thick in the plot to woo some aggrieved leaders and top shots of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

One of them is from the South East geo political zone.

They are said to have the backing of some aggrieved PDP leaders and two PDP serving governors on this mission as they contemplate two options- to revive the ailing PDP or float a new political party before 2019.

This development confirms INNONEWS.COM story that some aggrieved members of the PDP who say they want to separate themselves from the corrupt leaders in the opposition party are working round the clock to float a new party in collaboration with some key members of the ruling party who are unhappy with the "style of the presidency"

Again, this online newspaper had reported on Monday, 28 December, 2015 that a PDP South East governor had entered into talks with  APC leadership.  The talks later broke down for unknown reasons.

However, a national daily, THE NEW TELEGRAPH today quoted the national Vice Chairman of the APC, Segun Oni describing those behind the move as spoilers.

He however confirmed that there is such a plan.

“We are aware of all the antics of these so-called politicians. I am sure they are more in the PDP than they are in the APC” Oni stated.

He was quoted further“As far as we are concerned, such elements are desperate and you the media should expose them, we know what they are up to, but we are more prepared to bring the dividends of change to the ordinary Nigerian who voted for our party than spend time trying to stop them,” Oni  was quoted as saying.

The proposed political marriage fueled by the former senate presidents, are taking advantage of the annoyance of the some APC leaders who have been schemed out or relegated to the background by some new set of political young turks who have formed a new power bloc around President Muhammad Buhari.

A source said last week that there has been disquiet and murmuring among some top-shots of the APC who are worried how they have been shielded off the “power centre” nine months after the party came to power.

A key APC chieftain told this newspaper “APC members seem not to understand what is happening. It appears the entire thing has been hijacked. They are not been carried along. One had expected that by now, they would have been accommodated in the government of the day but sadly that is not the case.

“ So, if they say PDP is wooing them for a merger, they are not to blame because the party made them vulnerable" the APC top shot concluded.
