Members
of the newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC), in Imo State re -united in
Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, to reaffirm their commitment to the success of
the party and ensure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State is kept at
bay.
The
PDP lost to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2011 governorship
elections in Imo State.
Rochas
Okorocha was the party’s governorship flag bearer and winner in the Polls.
Okorocha
had taken APGA into the merger of key opposition parties that gave birth to the
APC, a move rejected by a faction of the party loyal to Governor Peter Obi of
Anambra State.
At a
meeting in Abuja attended by opposition leaders from the State such as Imo State
Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa,
Chief Martin Agbaso, Chief Emeka Nwajiuba, Chief P.C Onuoha, Prof Fabian Osuji,
Hon Uche Onyeagocha and others, resolved to collectively work for the overall
good and development of the APC in Imo State.
They
maintained their undiluted support to the success of the APC with the desire to
ensure that the party grows in leaps and bounds before the next general
elections.
No
communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting, but it was gathered that the
next meeting will be held in Owerri to further consolidate on the gains of the
first meeting.
