PDP, APC Campaign Hard In Imo North Over Resheduled Senatorial Polls (SEE CAMPAIGN PHOTOS)

Imo North senatorial zone (Okigwe) has lately turned to a fierce campaign ground as top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressive Congress, APC, have stormed the area for Saturday’s senatorial re run in the area.

The senatorial contest is a straight battle between the senatorial candidates of the PDP, Athan Achonu and Benjamin Uwajumuogu, a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly

This newspaper reported last night (20-07-2016) that top PDP leaders from Abuja namely Senator Ben Obi, Senator Adoplhus Wabara and Abdul Ningi arrived Owerri to strengthen the aspiration of Achonu.

Former Governor, Ikedi Ohakim and other top party stalwarts are all in the zone to drum support for Achonu. This morning, PDP supporters posted online pictures showing ongoing campaigns embarked on by the PDP stalwarts. The pictures show former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, member representing Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon Ezenwa Onyewuchi and Hon Obinna Onwubariri, Member representing Okigwe North in the House of Reps campaigning in one of the local governments in the zone.

The APC seem not to be resting on their oars as they have come out forcefully to back their candidate, Hon. Benjamin Uwajumuogu. APC have also intensified their campaigns.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has suspended all state government functions and activities in the State to enable the machinery of government which is APC mobilize support for Uwajumuogu.

Some Commissioners and top officials of the State government have been cited in the area.  Top APC leaders such as Senator Ifeanyi Araraume are also on ground for the polls.
